Technology

Good Cow has an FDA approved, patented technology that uses cold filtration reverse osmosis to remove more than half of the water that is in milk. We then pasteurize and homogenize our products so that you receive a Grade A pasteurized, concentrated alternative to your current milk source.

Our process is quite unique. Our raw milk is immediately chilled after milking to maintain the highest quality and flavor and lowest bacterial growth.

Good Cow also uses a separation technique which separates the cream from the milk while cold – the industry generally uses warm technology to do this.

Our skim milk is then concentrated through a series of membranes. During this process our milk is always maintained below 45°F.

The products are batched based on product type (e.g., 1%, 2%) then homogenized, pasteurized and packaged in our 2.5 gallon cases. Our USDA approved, patented technology allows us to concentrate fresh dairy and keep it fresh for over 30 days, which is nearly twice the shelf life of traditional fresh milk products! We are also able to create a shelf stable product that has a non-refrigerated shelf life of 180 days.

Our product is filled using a standard bag-in-box technique. Good Cow currently fills into 2.5 gallon poly bags, which yield 5 or 6 milk equivalent (ME) gallons, depending on product type.
Good Cow. Great Milk.
